A real-time clock board built round the DS1302, with a 32.768 kHz crystal and a CR2032 holder already on it. The chip counts seconds through to years with leap-year correction to 2100 and keeps going on the coin cell when the project is unplugged, drawing under 300 nA while it does. Five pins - VCC, GND, CLK, DAT, RST - carry the simple 3-wire serial link, and there are 31 spare bytes of battery-backed RAM you can use for settings.
