The easiest way into ESP8266 Wi-Fi. NodeMCU puts an ESP-12E module - an ESP8266EX at 80 or 160 MHz with 4 MB of flash - on a breadboard-friendly board with a USB socket, a 3.3V regulator and reset and flash buttons, so there is no adapter to buy and no jumper wire to hold down while flashing. Nine GPIO pins (D0-D8) plus one 0-3.3V analog input are broken out. Everything on it is 3.3V logic, so do not feed a 5V sensor output straight into a pin.
Key features
- ESP-12E module: ESP8266EX at 80/160 MHz with 4 MB flash
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz
- Programs over USB - no separate serial adapter needed
- 9 usable GPIO (D0-D8) plus one 10-bit analog input, 0-3.3V
- On-board 3.3V regulator, reset and flash buttons
- 3.3V logic - not 5V tolerant
- Arduino IDE, MicroPython and Lua all supported
