A real-time clock board built on the NXP PCF8563, talking I2C at address 0x51 and keeping seconds through to years with a century flag and automatic leap years. It sips about 0.25 microamps at 3V, so the on-board coin cell keeps the date running for a long time with the project switched off. Alarm, countdown timer and an INT output are all on tap, and CLKOUT can put out 32.768 kHz, 1.024 kHz, 32 Hz or 1 Hz for other circuits.
Key features
- NXP PCF8563 RTC, I2C address 0x51
- Works from 1.0V to 5.5V, I2C up to 400 kHz
- About 0.25 uA typical at 3V in timekeeping
- Alarm and countdown timer with INT output
- CLKOUT: 32.768 kHz, 1.024 kHz, 32 Hz or 1 Hz
- Coin-cell holder keeps time when powered down
