A light-dependent resistor wired to an LM393 comparator, so instead of a raw brightness reading you get a clean on/off signal that flips when the light crosses a level you set with the blue trimmer. Note the three pins - DO, GND, VCC: this is the digital-threshold version with no analog output, so it is for dusk-to-dawn switching, break-beam detection and light-triggered alarms rather than for measuring how bright a room is.
