Ceramic capacitor

Non-polarised through-hole ceramic capacitors, sold singly, in values from 10 pF up to 470 nF - choose the one you need above. 100 nF is the decoupling capacitor you put next to the power pins of every logic chip; 22 pF is the pair that hangs off a crystal; the values in between set timing in 555 and filter circuits. They fit either way round and cost almost nothing, so it is worth keeping the common values in a drawer.
