A serial-to-Wi-Fi bridge: it takes a microcontroller's UART on one side and puts it on a wireless network on the other, so a project can be reached over the network without running an IP stack itself. The radio sits under a shielded can with its own MAC address on the label, and it comes with a u.FL pigtail and an external whip antenna rather than a PCB antenna. It is an older part - an ESP8266 or ESP32 does the same job today.
