Reads the colour of a surface a few millimetres in front of it. The TCS3200 sits behind an 8x8 grid of filtered photodiodes - red, green, blue and clear - and outputs a square wave whose frequency rises with the light falling on whichever channel you select with the S2/S3 pins. That means no ADC: the microcontroller just times pulses on one digital pin. Four white LEDs on the board light the target, which is what keeps readings repeatable in a colour sorter.
