When an Uno runs out of pins, this is the board you move up to. The ATmega2560 gives you 54 digital I/O lines (15 of them PWM), 16 analog inputs and four hardware serial ports, backed by 256 KB of flash and 8 KB of SRAM - eight times the Uno's program space. It keeps the Uno shield footprint and 5V logic, which is why it ends up as the brain of RAMPS 3D-printer controllers, large LED displays and any build juggling a dozen sensors and motors at once.
Key features
- 54 digital I/O pins, 15 of them PWM-capable
- 16 analog inputs with 10-bit ADC
- 256 KB flash and 8 KB SRAM - 8x the Uno
- 4 hardware UARTs for GPS, Bluetooth and serial displays
- 5V logic, accepts standard Uno shields
- The usual choice for RAMPS 3D-printer electronics
