The KY-038 is the compact sibling of the KY-037: the same LM393 comparator and the same pair of outputs - an analog sound level on AO and a digital pulse on DO when the level passes the trimmer-set threshold - but a smaller microphone capsule on a narrower board. Its analog output is inverted too, so louder sound reads as a lower voltage. It works at either 3.3V or 5V, which suits both Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Pick it over the KY-037 when board space matters more than sensitivity.
