A fixed 10 V positive linear regulator in the familiar three-lead TO-220 case - the 78xx family member that few shops stock. Feed it a higher, roughly steady DC voltage and it holds 10 V out, with the usual pair of small capacitors on input and output for stability. The metal tab is the ground pin, and everything above 10 V is burned off as heat, so bolt it to a heatsink if you are asking for much current.
