Eight D-type flip-flops sharing one clock and one output-enable, in a 20-pin DIP. On each rising clock edge it captures a whole byte and holds it until the next edge, and its three-state outputs can be parked high-impedance so several registers can share a bus. Handy for latching a data bus, expanding parallel outputs, or holding a byte steady while a microcontroller goes off and does something else.
Key features
- Latches 8 bits on one rising clock edge
- Three-state outputs with an output-enable pin
- Supply 2V to 6V, high-speed CMOS
- About 12 ns propagation delay at 5V
- Inputs and outputs on opposite sides of the chip
- 20-pin DIP, easy to breadboard
