Four independent 2-input NAND gates in one 14-pin DIP, running anywhere from 3V to 18V. NAND is the universal gate - every other logic function can be built from it - so this is the chip people reach for when learning digital electronics, and it is equally at home as a set-reset latch, a switch debouncer or a simple oscillator. Being CMOS it draws almost no current when idle, and it happily runs on 9V or 12V where a 74-series chip could not.
Key features
- Four 2-input NAND gates in one 14-pin DIP
- Supply anywhere from 3V to 18V
- About 60 ns propagation delay at 10V
- Buffered CMOS - negligible standby current
- Builds latches, debouncers and oscillators
- Tie unused inputs high or low, never floating
