A charge-pump voltage converter in an 8-pin DIP that makes a negative rail out of a positive one with no inductor - just two capacitors. Feed it 1.5 V to 12 V and you get the same voltage back as a negative, so a single 5 V supply becomes +/-5 V for op-amps or RS-232. Wired the other way it doubles instead, up to about 22.8 V from 12 V in.
Key features
- Turns +1.5 V to +12 V into -1.5 V to -12 V
- Or doubles: up to 22.8 V from 12 V in
- Needs only two external capacitors
- Output resistance 60 ohm typ at 20 mA
- Oscillator 10 kHz nominal at 5 V, Boost pin on pin 1
- 80 uA typical supply current
