An infrared phototransistor behind a black lens, tuned to the 760-1100 nm light a flame gives off, with an LM393 comparator behind it. This is the three-pin version, so you get a single digital output: the blue trim pot sets how bright the source has to be before it trips, and an LED shows when it does. It picks up a lighter flame at about 80 cm within a roughly 60 degree cone - enough for a fire alarm, a flame-chasing robot or a burner-out cutoff.
Key features
- Responds to infrared at 760 - 1100 nm
- Sees a lighter flame at about 80 cm
- Detection cone of about 60 degrees
- Digital output only - 3-pin board
- Trim pot sets the trip point
- 3.3 - 5V supply
