Vishay's BPW24R is a silicon PIN photodiode in a TO-18 metal can with a glass lens, sensitive from 600 to 1050 nm and peaking at 900 nm in the near infrared. It gives 0.6 A/W over a narrow 12 degree half-angle, with 11 pF capacitance and a 7 ns rise time, so it is fast and linear where a phototransistor is merely sensitive. Reverse-bias it into a transimpedance amplifier for light meters, pulse detection, optical links and laser beam-break sensing.
Key features
- Silicon PIN photodiode, TO-18 can with glass lens
