A panel-mount barrel socket for bringing wall-adapter power into a project. The threaded body drops through a hole in an enclosure and locks with the supplied nut, and three solder tags on the back take the centre pin, the barrel and a switched contact that breaks when a plug is inserted - handy for cutting a battery out automatically when the adapter goes in. The 5.5 mm outer barrel is the standard size on almost every DC wall wart.
