A chassis-mount mains transformer with a centre-tapped secondary: the label reads 12V - 0 - 12V at 3 A, primary 110 V / 220 V, 50/60 Hz. The centre tap is the useful part - one side to the tap gives 12 V AC, the two outer wires give 24 V AC, and both halves together feed a two-diode full-wave rectifier or a +/-12 V split supply for op-amps and audio.
