Half-watt axial resistors, the blue-bodied metal-film type with five colour bands, sold by the value - anything from 2.2 Ω up to 5.6 MΩ from the list above. The 0.5 W rating gives twice the heat headroom of the usual 1/4 W part, which is what you want for LED droppers on a 12V or 24V rail, bleeder resistors, and anywhere I squared times R comes out above roughly 0.15 W. Metal film also means a tighter tolerance and less noise than carbon film.
