The encoder chip inside cheap 315/433 MHz key-fob remotes. It has up to 12 tri-state address pins - each one tied high, tied low or left floating, giving 531,441 possible codes - plus up to six data pins, and it serialises the lot into a coded waveform ready for an RF or IR transmitter. It runs on 4 to 15V with a single resistor setting the oscillator, in an 18-pin DIP. It only encodes: the receiving end needs a PT2272 decoder set to the same address and a matching oscillator resistor.
