An optocoupler in a 6-pin DIP: an infrared LED on one side, a silicon NPN phototransistor on the other, with nothing but light in between. That gives 5000 V RMS of isolation, so a microcontroller can watch a mains-referenced or noisy circuit without a shared wire. Current transfer ratio is over 100%, the output takes 70 V and 50 mA, and unlike a 4N25 the transistor base is brought out on pin 6.
Key features
- 5000 V RMS isolation between input and output
- Current transfer ratio over 100%
- Output transistor 70 V, 50 mA
- Phototransistor base on pin 6
- LED forward current 50 mA max
- 6-pin DIP, creepage and clearance 7 mm min
