The wide-voltage D-type flip-flop: two independent stages in one 14-pin DIP, each with its own data, clock, set and reset inputs and both Q and inverted Q brought out. Being 4000-series CMOS it runs anywhere from 3V to 18V and toggles at around 16 MHz at 10V, which makes it the easy choice on higher-voltage rails where 74HC parts (2-6V) cannot go. Wire inverted Q back to D and one flip-flop becomes a toggle: a push-button that latches on and off, or a divide-by-two for a clock.
Key features
- Two independent D-type flip-flops in one chip
- 3V to 18V supply - CMOS 4000 series
- Data, clock, set and reset on each stage
- Q and inverted Q both brought out
- Clock toggle rate around 16 MHz typ. at 10V
- For latches, toggles and frequency division
