A fast-recovery rectifier: same 1000 V blocking as a 1N4007 but rated 1.5 A and, more to the point, it stops conducting in about 500 ns instead of tens of microseconds. That is what makes it usable as the output or freewheel diode in a switching supply, an inverter or a boost converter, where an ordinary rectifier would sit there conducting backwards and cooking. Axial DO-15 body, banded end is the cathode.
