A 1 A silicon rectifier with a 1250V reverse rating - what you reach for when a 1N4007 at 1000V no longer leaves enough headroom. It is a standard-recovery mains diode in an axial plastic body, so it suits 50/60 Hz rectification in valve amplifiers, high-voltage bias supplies and older equipment repairs, but not the high-frequency switching of an SMPS, where a fast or ultrafast diode is wanted instead. The painted band marks the cathode.
