A colour-reading module built round the TCS3200 light-to-frequency converter, with four white LEDs ringing the lens so the target is lit evenly. Its photodiode array is filtered red, green, blue and clear; S2/S3 pick the filter and the OUT pin gives a square wave whose frequency rises with the light passing through it. Count pulses on each filter and you have an R/G/B reading - the basis of colour sorting, matching and coloured line following.
Key features
- TCS3200 with red, green, blue and clear filters
- Four white LEDs light the target evenly
- Frequency output - counted, not read as analog
- S2/S3 pick the filter, S0/S1 scale the output
- 2.7-5.5V, about 25 mA at 5V with LEDs on
- 33.2 x 33.2 mm board, 10-pin header
