An optical pulse and blood-oxygen sensor: red (660 nm) and infrared (940 nm) LEDs, a photodiode and an 18-bit converter in a package the size of a grain of rice. Rest a fingertip on it and the MAX30102 streams the raw red and IR waveforms over I2C at address 0x57, from which the usual libraries work out heart rate and SpO2. Sample rate is programmable from 50 to 3200 Hz and LED drive current from 0 to 50 mA, so you can trade battery life against signal quality.
Key features
- Red 660 nm and infrared 940 nm LEDs with a photodiode
- 18-bit ADC, 50 to 3200 Hz sample rate
- LED drive current programmable from 0 to 50 mA
- I2C at address 0x57, plus an interrupt output
- Low-voltage part - pair it with a 3.3V board
- For projects and experiments, not medical use
