An 8 x 10 mm drum-core power inductor with two radial leads - the epoxy-coated 'dog bone' type you find all over DC-DC converter boards. An inductor like this stores energy in its core on each switching cycle, which is how a buck or boost converter steps voltage up or down without wasting it as heat, and it also serves as a filter choke to keep switching noise off a supply rail.
