A sealed glass capsule holding a bead of mercury and two electrodes, mounted on a small board with a status LED. Tip it past the switching angle and the mercury bridges the contacts, pulling the S pin high; tip it back and the circuit opens. It draws about 0.3 mA on 3.3-5.5V and gives a plain digital output, which is all you need for an is-it-upright check, an anti-tamper alarm or a tip-over cutoff. It does contain mercury, so handle it carefully and do not break the glass.
