A piezo disc on flying leads plus a small breakout board that turns it into something a microcontroller can read. Bend or tap the disc and it generates its own voltage - nothing needs to excite it - and the board presents that on a 3-pin analog header, with a screw terminal for the disc itself. Because it responds to how hard rather than how often, it suits knock detection, drum and percussion triggers, impact alarms and rough vibration sensing.
Key features
- Piezo disc with soldered leads, plus a breakout board
- Analog output - reads on any ADC pin
- Generates its own signal, no excitation needed
- Screw terminal for the disc, 3-pin header out
- For knock sensors, drum triggers and impact alarms
- Measures impact strength, not frequency
